Firstly, when you open up a free blogging or website account, your website simply becomes an extension of the host's website. This is not a bad thing. In fact, it could be an awesome online business marketing tool, but it's not personal. Your website address could be something like www.blogger.com/yoursitenamehere, whereas, if you purchase a package from us, it would be www.yoursitenamehere.co.za. Beautiful...
Another point to make is the design structure and content of your site. We design sites optimized for search engines. We know how to write for the web. We know how to present your content on the web. These are all things that need to be taken into consideration in web design.

How long does it take The Big Fish to design a standard package website?
It can take anything from three days, to three months. A lot of factors play a part in the design of a successful site.
Some of these are:
- What is the goal of the site?
- Who is the target audience of the site?
- How many bells and whistles are needed for the site, and what type?
- Is there an existing logo design?
- Is there existing copy?
- Are there existing images, or do new photos have to be taken or images have to be sourced?
The more information we receive, the less time it takes to build the site.
Can I move my existing site to your server, and how much will it cost me?
We don't charge a fee for moving a small existing site to our server, provided we are used to re-design your site. The price is then included in the package. Should the site be of considerable size, an additional quote will be given for hosting.
What is the difference between a website host and an ISP (internet service provider)?
A website host acts as the 'landlord' for your website. Your website basically lives in his quarters. You pay him rent for your site to live with him.
An ISP (internet service provider) offers a connection to your hosted site, and in fact, to the www (world wide web).
There are companies that offer both hosting and connection, but this is not always the case.
What is a Content Management System (CMS)?
A content management system is software that manages documents for web sites. It provides for the storage, maintenance and retrieval of HTML and XML documents and all related elements. Content management systems may be built on top of a native XML database and typically provide publishing capabilities to export content not only to the web site, but to CD-ROM and print.

My internet connection is really bad. What did you guys do to mess it up?
Nothing. It wasn't us. We design websites, and host them. We do not offer a connection to the internet. If you are having trouble connecting to the internet, speak to your internet service provider. If the problem persists, contact us. We are able to make suggestions concerning internet service providers.
